Dr. Neil Fleshner, M.D.

Neil Fleshner, M.D. is Head of the Division of Urology at University Health Network (UHN) and Professor of Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. His practice focuses on the prevention and surgical treatment of urologic malignancy, with an emphasis on prostate cancer.

Dr. Fleshner is certified in both urology and epidemiology. He earned his Master in Public Health degree from the School of Public Health at Columbia University. His oncology training was completed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His current projects include two randomized trials of nutritional intervention in prostate cancer. Dr. Fleshner oversees a basic research laboratory, which focuses on the assessment of oxidative biomarkers and cell cycle regulation in prostate cancer cells exposed to micronutrients. His research is or has been funded by the National Cancer Institute of Canada, Medical Research Council of Canada, Canadian Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, Canadian Institute of Health Research and National Institute of Health.

Dr. Fleshner has authored more than 100 publications. He has also served on the faculty of numerous postgraduate courses and has been an invited lecturer around the world.
